How I recovered from BURNOUT and OVERWHELM

I realized I had to change my stress levels. My cortisol results were off the charts. My hormones with the exception of testosterone were imbalanced… I had plaque in my arteries…

The list goes on…

So, I booked my trip to Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona to see Dr. Diane Downing. I worked with my family doctor in NS and my Naturopath Dr Karen

I got a handle on my nutrition and followed this book the Adrenal Reset Diet.

I used supplements to help me get a handle on muscle cramping when I did my Yoga Teacher Training which was a challenge (combined with Adrenal Fatigue, Low Thyroid, Low Vitamin D, Low Iron), and I also had to maintain my B Vitamin Levels by getting a B Complex in.

I re-learned my love of cooking.

I let go of the business.

I went to Perdido Key, Florida to be totally focused and immersed in healing.

I used Reiki on myself.

I walked the dogs daily and engaged in play.

And, because I know myself I also re-engaged into my studies for my MBA degree and my MscKin degree.

DoTerra essential oils infused daily helped me heal.

As I discovered with my coach Seema Sodha there’s more depth to the story than this blog can cover.

Letting go of my business was hard. There was a lot of chatter. I made the decision to say goodbye after Father’s Day Weekend 2018 and started writing reference letters for staff by August at their request. I kept the business open because I wanted an ending that benefited my trainers and staff. I could give them time.

So, I did so by closing the doors on November 8th, 2018 after helping trainers secure equipment from me for free and ensuring the majority of their clients stayed with them.

This was not an easy task – I had built the business and seen it through different fluctuations over 4.5 years. I loved it! All of it.

But, every night that I could go to bed early I cheered. That was the first clue that something was really wrong. I had no energy for going to the movies, walking the dogs, going to the beach, engaging in sports or anything social besides the odd networking event. I was tired all the time.

So, that’s when I started getting tests done. And Canyon Ranch Tucson Arizona came in to confirm it – my second opinion. I ignored the social chatter after making my decision public and put myself first. It was go time. My health matters to me and at 42 I was not going to ignore tests like my Dad had ignored (he died suddenly at 62 and my grandfather died at 67 on that side of the family).

I struggled thinking I could hire a manager to take over the business or make a crazy loan happen but I knew I was so involved in the business personally that this was not my answer.

I ended it the way I wanted to and put time and energy into the secondary program called Plus Fitness with Tara which is home fitness videos (coming soon) and solopreneur activities including: DoTerra; Reiki and Reiki Energy Gift Box; Personal Training; Yoga classes; Nutrition; Fitness classes…

And, now Here. I. Am. Months later with better health test results and a new start to 2019-2020.

  1. Hi Tara, I saw you on the weekend at the women’s event and thought you looked great. The new healthy program is working not just on the inside but on the outside too.
