LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom filled room

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little – but not for long.

And not with your head bowed low.

Remember the love that once we shared.

Miss me but let me go.

For this is a journey we must all take

And each must go alone.

It’s all part of the master plan

A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart

Go to the friends we know

Laugh at all the things we used to do.

Miss me but let me go.

Sadly, Lorraine F. (Woods) MacDonald (1937) passed away on May 8th, 2025.

Lorraine is predeceased by her father, Thomas (1970) and mother, Clementine (2012) and other siblings including: Robert, Carol, Mae, Lorne, Don and Pat. She is survived by her daughters, Tara and Eileen, sisters Joan, Chris and Jackie, grandchildren and greatgrandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lorraine leaves behind a supportive group of relatives, including Chris, Jackie and Chary Woods among others.

Before Lorraine F. MacDonald married M. Charles MacDonald in 1974 in a private ceremony in the United Kingdom she worked at McTarget Motors and Canadian Oil then Shell Oil.

Known for her vivacious laugh and independent spirit as well as her quick witted humour, she travelled to many different countries such as Bahrain, Singapore, Thailand and India in her lifetime.

She volunteered at different parent functions and fundraisers through her daughter’s school years in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Making numerous friends around the world and in Canada she had a love of the Arts and was especially supportive of classical music and the CBC radio. An avid tennis player for many years, she would follow along on tv each season of Wimbledon and US Open. She also enjoyed reminiscing about basketball having been on the team in her high school.

With her sisters, Pat, Jackie and Chris she engaged in such activities as downhill skiing and bird-watching. A true Albertan to the core and a dog-lover, where Lorraine travelled she thought of her family, and made sure to volunteer her time when visiting them at the family homestead in Lacombe, Alberta.

After her divorce, she returned to Alberta and set up a strong, confident life with her love of nature, gardening, walking, taking care of her dog Shadow and other activities through a seniors club.

Thanks to the staff at RockyView and Foothills over the past year and a half for all the help and treatment. A thank you to all family members who were instrumental in her local care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
